The School of Pharmacy- Guru Nanak Institutions Technical campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad has successfully organized a Pharma Rally on 14th Nov, 2017 on the eve of World Diabetes Day and as a part of country wide celebrations of National Pharmacy week. The rally was conducted from GNITC campus to Khanapur village, Ibrahimpatnam. Subsequently a health awareness program was organized at Khanapur village in association with Omni hospitals, wherein activities like RBS (Random Blood Sugar), BP Check up, BMI & General physician consultations, were undertaken for the residents of Khanapur village.
The program was co-ordinated by Dr. T. Lakshmi Rao, Professor, along with General Manager Omni Hospitals, Counselor of Khanapur village, V. Balakrishna and Deepak Pawar staff of School of Pharmacy. A large number of students of Pharm. D and B .Pharm were associated as a part of their academic activity in the form of field work. The program was planned by Dr. P.Suresh, Associate Director, School of Pharmacy under the valuable guidance and active supervision of Dr. H S Saini, Managing Director GNI and Dr. M. Ramalinga Reddy, Director GNITC, under the blessings of Sardar G. S Kohli, Vice Chairman, GNI.
The rally was flagged off by Prof. P. Parthasarthy, Associate Director-I and Prof R.K Singh, Associate Director-II GNITC. Prof M.Venkata Ramana Reddy, Dr.Sajal Kumar Jha and all faculty of pharmacy were present. The Health Awareness Programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Swapna the counselor of Khanapur village.
More than 150 persons of the village have availed the benefit of the programme and got checked up by the Doctors. The student pharmacists played a key role in Health Awareness Programme. Generic medicines were distributed free of cost to the patients on the prescription of Physicians.
On the eve of children’s day an activity was also planned for the benefit of school children of khanapur village, wherein posters on health conscious activities, malnutrition, common diseases were displayed with detailed discussion and were educated on the importance of good eating habits to aware them about the malnutrition. To mark the occasion fruits were distributed to children. The programme was well appreciated by all.

In order to educate the students and local people about the HIV AIDS, an AIDS awareness rally was conducted on 2nd December 2013 by Guru Nanak Institutions School of Pharmacy in association with GNITC NSS cell .The rally was started at 11.30 AM from the Government Hospital Ibrahimpatnam and ended near the Police Station Ibrahimpatnam . Around 300 students of First year Pharmacy and Engineering Branches of GNI participated in the rally. During the rally students displayed placards and distributed AIDS awareness pamphlets to the local people. Senior Public Health Officer Dr.Upender congratulated the management of GNI for this novel initiative of creating an awareness amongst the local people about the AIDS. He briefed the students about the various government policies working in the direction of creating awareness and eradicating AIDS from the society. Speaking on the occasion Managing Director GNI – Dr.H.S.Saini highlighted the importance of being pious and be faithful towards ones’ partner.

GNITC-School of Pharmacy has introduced a new course Doctor of Pharmacy which is popularly known as Pharma.D. from the academic session 2013-2014. Orientation program was organized on 24.10.2013 followed by Blood Donation Camp. Program started with inviting dignitaries on diace, lighting lamp, invocation song and further Principal’s speech. Dr. S. A. Sreenivas, Principal highlighted the gathering regarding the Approvals and affiliations of the course, Hospital MOU, difference between B.Pharmacy and Pharma.D., its career opportunity in India and abroad, GNI Management, Strength of GNI, PCI rules etc. Further Mr. Amitkumar Tiwari briefed about rules and regulations of JNTUH, examination pattern etc. Dr. Karna B. Khavane delivered vote of thanks. After the orientation program GNITC-School of Pharmacy in co-ordination with M/s Sanjeevini Blood Bank, Hyderabad organized a Blood Donation camp. The purpose of the program was to make the staff and students aware of donating blood. Program was inaugurated by Dr. S. A. Sreenivas, Principal. In his speech he addressed the gathering and briefed about the importance of donating blood and informed all to donate blood with a gap of three months. Around 100 plus volunteers donated blood making the program a grand success.
