A REPORT ON I. B.TECH. ORIENTATION DAY – 4th SEPTEMBER-2023

OVERVIEW

Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, autonomous, Hyderabad, conducted its orientation programme for the new foundation batch 2023–24 of engineering students. The programme included around 1200 undergraduate engineering students & parents attended. The orientation programme is envisaged to help students transition into their new academic environment and align expectations with the values that GNITC upholds.

The programme was graced by honourable Padmasree awardee, Dr. Chaitanyamoy Ganguly, Former Chairman & Chief Executive, NFC, Hyderabad as the Chief, Sri Balaji Srinivasan, CTO, high radius as Guest of honour, Vice Chairman, G.S. Kohli, Dr. H.S. Saini, Managing Director, Dr. K.Venkata Rao, Director, Dr. P. Parthasarathy, Joint Director, Dr. S.V. Ranganayakulu, Dean-R&D, Mr. Vinay Chopra, Director Placements, Lt. Col (Rtd) A. Majeed, General Manager, Dr.B. Kedarnath, Asst.Director-I.B.Tech, Dr.G.Anjaneyulu, Dr. N. Raju, HoDs of I.B.Tech and Heads of all the departments Of Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus.

All the aforesaid guests were received and welcomed by the GNI authorities and accompanied to the Managing Director’s office. After having a dialogue and sustenance with the Vice-Chairman G.S. Kohli and H.S. Saini the guests were escorted to the open air auditorium. All the dignitaries were warmly received at the venue by the students and their parents along with teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. The chief guest, the guest of honour and all other stalwarts were assisted to their designated seats and are welcomed with a bouquet by the senior students and staff.

HIGHLIGHTS

Prof. Koduganti Venkata Rao, Director of GNITC, welcomed the prospective engineers and their parents to the orientation day programme. He gave his preliminary notes related to the college and its legacy. He briefed the students as well their parents regarding the prerequisites of the college. He talked over the importance and the demand of engineering and its various branches. He spoke about the former students who got into multinational companies during campus placements with highest packages.

Managing Director, Prof. H.S. Saini greeted the gathering and briefed the students regarding the college its achievements. He advised parents to visit the campus and monitor and monitor their wards progress. He also stressed the institutions collaboration with foreign universities and multinational corporations to equip students with industry–relevant skills. He wished the students very best for future endeavours.

Dr. Chaitanyamoy Ganguly, former Charmin & Chief Executive, NFC, Hyderabad acquainted the students with the importance of how Agricultural engineering can solve agricultural problems concerning power supplies, the efficiency of machinery, the use of structures and facilities, pollution and environmental issues, and the storage and processing of agricultural products. He enlightened the students on various aspects of engineering such as Metallurgical Engineering: 3D Printing and Manufacturing of Metals, composite metals which are utilised in space. Civil Engineering: Pre-Fabricated concrete structures, Green buildings. Energy Engineering: Energy Security, Solar Energy, Global warming and its effects. He favoured atomic energy over all other energies which cause Carbon emissions. He also stressed on the importance of Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence and so on. He favoured hands on learning of engineering over theoretical learning. As his speech received a big round of applauds, he thanked the management of GNI for it.

The Guest of Honour was Sri Balaji Srinivasn, CTO, high radius, enlightened the students about the top engineering skills in highest demand today – Java Script, Java, SQL, Python programming language, Cascading style sheets (CSS), HTML, Management & Cloud computing.

Vice Chairman, G.S. Kohli welcomed the prospective engineers and their parents and briefed them regarding the prerequisites of the college. He expressed the Institution has committed for giving quality education. He urged students to excel in their four years courses and grab promising employment opportunities. If students focussed on these four years seriously, they must get good jobs with high packages and will lead the rest of 40 years happily.

Joint Director, Prof. Parthasarathy spoke about the examination system, R22 regulation, Attendance, promotion rules, Credits and detent system of GNITC.

Lt. Col (Rtd) A. Majeed, General Manager, spoke about the hostel, library and transportation facilities at GNI. He emphasized the code of conduct.

All the Associate Directors, Assistant Directors and Heads of the Departments bestowed valuable inputs to the students and their parents regarding the institution in their formal and informal conversations.

Dr. B. Kedarnath, Asst. Director, I.B. Tech, proposed vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and parents and the programme was ended by 12.15 PM.
