Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology and Emerging Technologies are hosting 1st National Hackathon on Innovations in Computer Science 2023 with support of Epam and Smart IMS on 25th& 26th August 2023. Hackathon is a platform to bring novel idea concepts from the students and students will code these ideas in 24 Hrs format in the campus. There are six themes of Hacktopia under which students submitted their ideas and abstracts.
They are Health Care, Security & Surveillance, Waste Management, Ecommerce, Smart Systems and Open Innovations. This 24 hrs hackathon will ignite innovations and solutions in real time problems in these themes. 535 teams from 15 states of top engineering colleges, government universities, IITs, NITs throughout India submitted their registrations through their abstracts.147 teams were selected by Guru Nanak Institutions panel members and invited to the campus to put the code and executions of their ideas from 25th morning 11.00 am to 26th morning 6.00 am. 323 boys and 263 girls from 15 states are participating in this Hackathon. Accommodation for these two days event was free in the campus.
The final round of evaluation for 30 teams out of 147 was done by industry experts from epam, smart IMS and Infosys. In the valedictory function, vice chairman G S Kohli has presented first prize of Rs 75,000 to Sri Krishna College of Technology, Tamil Nadu, with the theme of Security and Surveillance,Team name- MAVERICKS, second prize of Rs. 40,000 Vasavi College of Engineering,with the theme of Healthcare Protection, Team name -TECH INFINITEX Hyderabad was awarded by Dr. H. S. Saini, managing director, GNI and third prize of Rs. 25,000 was awarded to Vishwakarma Institute of Technology Pune-Maharashtra with the theme of Security and Surveillance with team name- TEAM PHANTOM by vice chairman and 6 consolation prizes for the best theme has also been awarded by vice chairman and managing director Dr. H.S Saini This is the first time in South India that 750 students from 15 states have come on a common platform of Guru Nanak Institutions campus to participate in 24 hrs Hackathon. Dr. Rishi Sayal, Associate Director presented the report on hackathon in the valedictory function.
